Local businesses joined other guests and residents at a Casino Night and fish and chip supper at The ExtraCare Charitable Trust’s Lovat Fields Retirement Village to boost funds for health and leisure facilities in the innovative Willen scheme which opened last year.
Thirty local businesses have entered teams in the Milton Keynes Business Challenge and ExtraCare has given them £50 and challenged them to grow the money to see who makes the most for the Appeal Fund by the end of March.
And for the casino night, teams taking part were also sold tickets for £5 and encouraged to sell them for £10 or more.
Wallace Cameron, first aid training providers in Sherrington, did particularly well and actually sold 21 tickets which will help boost their proceeds in the challenge to £150.
Pam Parker, the company’s Director of Training, said she was impressed when she visited the Village and saw the high specification facilities. “We set up a team and members jumped at the chance to raise money for the charity which helps provide such outstanding care and facilities.,” she says, adding that they had a fantastic night and enjoyed mixing with the residents.
Pam says the organisation was one of the last to take up the Challenge but more fundraising plans are now in the pipeline.
The winner of the Casino Competition was resident Wesley Brown.
The Challenge is being sponsored by NatWest and MK News is a sponsor of one of the major prizes. For more information contact Sue Bromfield at ExtraCare on M: 0782 542 6574.
