ExtraCare are launching a major capital appeal in Birmingham to raise £10 million to build four ExtraCare villages. The villages Centres will provide affordable, state of the art health and social facilities, making a positive difference to the lives of literally thousands of older people in Birmingham.
Just over half the people in Birmingham aged over 85 years or more live alone.
45% of Birmingham’s older residents have a limiting long-term illness
There are estimated to be over 10,000 older Birmingham residents living with dementia, a quarter of whom are living alone.
About 16% of Birmingham’s older residents provide unpaid care to another person for reasons of health or old age.
ExtraCare Village Life…
Helps people make new friendships to relieve the feeling of loneliness.
Offers a ‘home for life’, with 24 hour on site care and support from qualified health professionals.
Encourages people to cherish old skills/hobbies and to develop new ones, from singing to skydiving, and help couples stay together.
Gives the whole family piece of mind.
